Pure Relief Lifter Strain First-Hand Review

Smell (Irrelevant to effects)

The Pure Relief Lifter Strain smells peppery and herbal, with notes of pine and coffee tempered by notes of fresh fruit (think mangoes and pineapples).  Of course, the characteristic skunkiness of cannabis is present, though the organic hemp flower within the raw hemp paper contains less than 0.3% THC per federal regulations.  The joint smells indistinguishable from a marijuana joint.

Taste (Irrelevant to effects)

True to its scent, the smoke of the joint tastes pleasantly spicy, with notes of pepper mingling with the piney and earthy flavors we smelled earlier.  The sweetness of the fruity flavors comes through subtly, tempering what has the potential to be a bit of a rough hit into a smooth and spirited smoke that we really enjoyed.  The finish is bright and spicy, with notes of pink peppercorn and cedar.

Consistency

Each Lifter joint is packed inside a cone-shaped plastic container within a scent-proof, resealable envelope.  The dual layering of the packaging helps keep the herb within fresh and reduces the risk of conspicuous odor, which we appreciate.  Furthermore, the container is childproof, keeping the joint within from falling into tiny hands — another good move that we’d like to see more of from CBD companies in general.

The joint is packed just densely enough to ensure a smooth burn while still allowing for good airflow during smoking.  The hemp flower in the roll is finely and evenly ground, which further contributes to a smooth burn and an enjoyable therapeutic toke.  The Lifter Strain Flower is a light, powdery green, peppered with amber-orange hairs, and leaves a subtle crystalline residue on the fingertips when touched.

Effects (Onset, Duration, Intensity)

Like other inhaled products, this one takes effect quickly.  We began to feel relief within minutes of our first puff, with effects building over the ensuing 30-40 minutes and lasting for 4-6 hours for most of our test group.  The first effects we felt were physical and mental relaxation, followed by a gradual but notable decrease in pain, stiffness, and inflammation.

We found this joint to be an effective treatment for a variety of symptoms, from anxiety and depression to chronic pain to inflammation to muscle spasms.  We felt substantial relief splitting the joint between 2 and 3 people, but you could also consume it alone if you’re in need of a higher dose or have more severe symptoms.

The Relief Joints could be used just like other fast-acting forms of CBD to address symptoms quickly.  We especially like them for sudden or severe symptoms that require timely relief. The joints are effective, enjoyable, and feel pleasantly familiar to our usual cannabis joints without the accompanying high associated with THC.

Lifter Strain Suggested Use

Best Used For:

Because the joints take effect so quickly and so intensely, we like them best for sudden or intense symptoms, as they provide relief within minutes and are easy to use.  They aren’t as discreet as a vaporizer would be, so it may be a good idea to reserve them for home use if you don’t currently live in a state with a legal cannabis program to avoid any legal questions.  The high level of CBD in each joint makes taking a strong therapeutic dose easy and effective.

We found these joints effective for treating symptoms associated with depressionanxiety, mood disorders, and ADHD; we also felt relief from chronic pain, inflammation (due to rheumatoid arthritis), muscle spasms, menstrual pain, and associated symptoms, and athletic recovery.  If the root cause of your symptoms is inflammation (and there’s evidence to suggest that most disease originates as inflammation in the body), there’s a good chance CBD can help ease your symptoms with minimal side effects.

Best Used With:

Since this is a fast-acting systemic product, we like to supplement with something longer-lasting, like an oil or a gummy, to extend our symptom relief throughout the day.  Something absorbed through the digestive system, like a gummy or an oil, will help extend the life of your dose with a slower release into the bloodstream while the joint works quickly to alleviate symptoms in the short term.

If you’re suffering from pain related to injury, illness, or your menstrual cycle, we recommend adding a topical CBD product.  The CBD within the cream addresses pain and inflammation from the surface while your systemic dose works from inside, for all-around pain relief.

Lifter Strain Price & Comparison

This is where the situation gets a little dicey:  Pure Relief did not label this batch of joints beyond the strain name.  This illustrates one of the problems with lack of regulation around CBD and hemp products:  there are no labeling requirements, so companies pretty much have free reign in how they label their products.

We did some digging, and we found that the current batch of Lifter is listed as being 15% CBD by weight.  From the look of the packaging, the current batch is different from the one we received — and, since we were unable to find the batch testing results for our batch, we can’t know for certain the percentage of CBD our joint contained.  That said, that 15% figure is about as close as we are able to get, so we’ll go with it for the purposes of our calculations.

Assuming that our 1 gram joint was 15% CBD by volume, it contained a total of 150 milligrams of CBD.  At $12 per joint, this works out to $0.08 per milligram, which is a bit pricey where raw hemp flower is concerned.  The joints are definitely effective, but they’re pretty costly in terms of price per smoke session.

Competition/Alternatives

Next to another competing raw hemp flower (like our personal favorite strains from Canna Comforts), these joints are nice in that they’re effective, enjoyable, and well-rolled.  That said, they’re much more expensive than other raw hemp flowers (and, notably, the same strain and roughly the same CBD composition as the Canna Comforts flower, though we were unable to independently confirm the specific origin of the raw hemp used by Pure Relief).  At nearly double the price for a preroll, we’re kind of ambivalent — these joints meet our CBD Buyer’s Guide criteria for quality, purity, and potency, but they’re nearly double the price of competing prerolls.
