Smell (Irrelevant to Effects)
There’s a sweetish scent to the product, slightly citrusy but also clean, even a little soapy. It smells fresh and pleasant, and it’s very subtle (we didn’t notice it during or after play. In fact, we had to get up close and personal with the bottle to smell it at all).
Taste (Irrelevant to Effects)
To be clear, lube is not for eating and you shouldn’t consume large quantities of any personal lubricant. That said, this stuff won’t harm you if you consume some during oral play, so don’t worry about any negative effects if it ends up in your mouth. It’s a little bit sweet, but has a slightly bitter finish by itself. Again, we didn’t notice this during play aside from a subtle sweet taste added to the expected flavor landscape.
This lubricant from Hemp Bombs exists somewhere in the space between a liquid and a gel. It runs slowly in very large amounts, but tends to adhere together in smaller quantities. This makes for easy handling and application as well as a less messy experience. The product is clear and shiny and lasts for a fairly long time, especially for a water-based lubricant. It isn’t oily or greasy and washes off with mild soap and water. It’s safe for use with latex condoms and silicone toys. We found it effective in supporting penetration, oral, and anal play.
The primary purpose of this product is to act as a lubricant, and it does that job very well. We had success with it in oral, vaginal, and anal play. None of our testers experienced any irritation, even the most sensitive among us. Most of us reported a subtle enhancement in sensation — not quite a tingling, but a noticeable difference — that made intimacy more enjoyable but wasn’t unpleasantly present after the fact.
The product was pleasurable to use in general, but may be especially good for anal play. We noticed a reduction in discomfort and tension during anal sex and an increase in pleasure from anal stimulation. The product can be used prior to application of a condom as well as after, extending the effects to both participants.
Best Used For
We enjoyed this lube in a variety of contexts, and we think it’s a good option for many couples (and singles, for that matter!). That said, we think it might be especially beneficial for people who find penetration uncomfortable or painful. When combined with gentle stimulation and plenty of direct communication, this pleasure gel from Hemp Bombs may help ease penetration and reduce pain associated with penetrative sex.

Each 2 oz bottle contains 100 mg of CBD and costs $19.99. That works out to about $0.20 per milligram, which is reasonable for a topical product and in line with many boutique personal lubricants (and even some drugstore options). Compared to civilian personal lubricants, we feel this product from Hemp Bombs holds its own very well.
This product is fairly unique among competitors, and it’s a standout. It is formulated to be condom- and silicone-compatible and is body safe for play of all kinds. Since it’s water-soluble, it’s easy to wash out of sheets (or wherever it ends up) and won’t break down synthetic toys. Hemp Bombs meets our CBD Buyer’s Guide requirements for quality and purity and this product is no exception.
