Description

Smell (Irrelevant to effects)

CBDistillery Full Spectrum Softgels, as a capsule, don’t have much of a discernible smell. There’s a mild earthy and herbal scent in the bottle. There’s also a barely noticeable, slightly sweet smell from the gelatin capsule.

Taste (Irrelevant to effects)

The outer gelatin capsule has a sweet and a little bit savory flavor. Though it’s not recommended and somewhat defeats the purpose of taking a softgel rather than a tincture or oil, if the capsule is broken, the oil inside tastes as expected of hemp oil, earthy, herbal, and somewhat bitter.

Consistency

These softgels have a soft to the touch and smooth outer texture. The capsules have some give to them when pressed, rather than being hard like a traditional pill. The oil contained within is dark amber in color.

Effects (Onset, Duration, Intensity)

CBDistillery 30 mg Full Spectrum Softgels have a moderate onset time of 1-2 hours, similar to edible products, that will vary with each individual. Full Spectrum products tend to have more intense effects than CBD isolates due to what is known as “the entourage effect”, in which the whole-plant compounds work together to have a stronger, synergistic effect. As such, these softgels have a powerful effect on mood and can provide relief from pain and inflammation. As a higher dose of CBD (30 mg), these softgels may also have a sedative effect. These softgels will last for a few hours, generally 4-8, depending on factors such as dosage amount and individual metabolism. There isn’t a psychoactive effect because, like a hemp product, the softgels contain no more than .3% THC. For those who are concerned about passing drug tests, CBDistillery also makes a THC-free version of the softgels—although we always recommend full spectrum CBD products when possible.

Best used for

Softgels are a great product to use for precision dosing for more serious illnesses and chronic pain because the amount of CBD in each product is exact. Those with conditions that require consistently accurate dosing, such as epilepsy, cancer, or chronic pain, will likely benefit from this aspect of softgels.

Aside from precision dosing, softgels can generally best be used for helping to lower stress, inflammation, and pain levels. CBD is very effective at helping to relieve nerve and joint pain. The higher doses of CBD in these softgels make them a potent product for those suffering from nerve-related conditions, such as nerve damage or multiple sclerosis. Softgels are a good solution for those who can’t tolerate the taste of tinctures and oils. Helpful for people who struggle to swallow pills, the smooth, gelatin coating of softgels make them easier to swallow than regular pills.

Best used with (Complimentary Product)

There are many product options to use with CBDistillery’s Full Spectrum Softgels. They can be used as a primary, full spectrum product to be supplemented by CBD isolate products. As a systemic product, softgels are complemented by localized products, such as topicals like CBDistillery’s CBDol Topical Salve or CBD Lip Balm. Having a longer onset time, softgels can be used with products that have a faster onset, such as the vape products offered by CBDistillery, for immediate relief while waiting for softgels to take effect. Softgelscan also be supplemented by products that don’t offer precision dosing when extra relief that doesn’t require an exact dose is sought.

Value/Price

CBDistillery Full Spectrum Softgels contain 30 mg of CBD per softgel. They’re available in 30-count with 900 mg CBD per bottle for $70, and 60-count with 1800 mg CBD per bottle for $130. CBDistillery often has sale prices on their products and also offers a Veteran’s Discount. A good value, these softgels are a convenient and effective method for taking CBD, are non-GMO, pesticide-free, and are third-party tested for contaminants and quantity of CBD.

Competition/Alternatives

CBDistillery is a quality brand that stands up to the competition and meets our CBD Buyer’s Guide requirements. They test their products for purity and potency via a third-party testing company. Test results are provided in the images section for each product on their website, which is a transparent practice and makes it easy to find the information.

They have worked really well. I’ve purchased these before so I expected them to work.
